5 Simple Ways To Connect to Jewish Tampa

(Hint: It starts with connecting with the Tampa JCCs & Federation)

There’s a great deal of research that shows that being involved in a community is good for your mental and physical health and your general well-being.

The Tampa JCCs & Federation luckily is at the ready to help!

What’s one of the first things people do who are new to the Tampa Jewish community or who are seeking to engage socially?

They call the Tampa JCCs & Federation.

Why? Because it’s a well-known fact that Jewish Community Centers and Jewish Federations are the hubs of Jewish life, the town squares of almost every community and the primary destination for Jewish engagement - connectors to Jewish life, places where people within the Jewish community and the broader community come together around Jewish ideas, principles and values, and have important conversations on current and pressing topics of the day.

In addition to our efforts to raise money to help people in need, the Tampa JCCs & Federation is also committed to helping to connect and engage with our community.

In Tampa, that means hundreds of activities offered throughout the year to choose from, ongoing activity, programs, events and curated experiences to be a part of Jewish life and community, sponsored and hosted by the Tampa JCCs & Federation. We provide recreational, fitness, health and wellness, educational and arts and culture programming for people of all ages and stages, from babies, children and families to young professionals, active adults and seniors, all happening throughout the Hillsborough County and East Pasco areas.

So, how can you connect to your Jewish community in Tampa?

Here are 5 simple ways to get started:

Reach out to the Tampa JCCs & Federation Engagement team and introduce yourselves. We’d love to meet you for coffee, get to know you, explore your interests and of course, introduce you to others in our network and invite you to special events.

Try something new! The number of social experiences we offer to our Tampa Jewish community are endless – from senior adult daytime outings, young professional meetups, family get togethers, Jewish education and enrichment classes in partnership with our local synagogues, arts & culture events and more. Please let us help you make new connections and facilitate introductions. And be sure to sign up to receive Shalom Tampa, a weekly enewsletter that will inform you about year-round activities happening in our community.

Meet our Community Ambassadors. When you reach out, we’ll be sure to
connect you with one of our friendly Community Ambassadors. They enjoy meeting for coffee, lunch and/or showing our community around our two Jewish Community Centers.

Volunteer to get involved. We hear from so many of our volunteers about how
connected they feel to the Tampa Jewish community when they serve on a committee, get involved with a project or donate their time to the community. Please reach out and let us know what skills and expertise you bring to the table and join us.

– we need you, and your community needs you.

Please help us meet others and introduce us to people we don’t know, Tampa’s “Hidden Yidden.” It is our duty to open our doors to everyone, and we need the help of our community to help us make connections to the thousands of people we don’t yet know. Many of them are hiding in plain sight – we just haven’t met them yet.  We need help from our community to facilitate those introductions, introducing people to all that Jewish Tampa has to offer and building an even stronger, more vibrant Jewish community. Please help us build our network!
