The ABC’s of the JCRC are:

  • Advocate on issues of Jewish communal concern

  • Build, maintain and join coalitions to promote effective action and opportunities for community involvement

  • Convene the community in times of crisis, celebration and commemoration

 

 

Purpose and Goals of the JCRC


The objectives of the JCRC shall be to defend and preserve the civil rights of the Jewish community, domestically and overseas, and to promote its interests in relation to the community at large. More specifically, it shall aim:
 

  • to provide the Tampa Jewish community a unified and effective voice in defense of its civil rights;
  • to promote better understanding between the local Jewish community and the community at large;
  • to develop positive and effective public opinion with respect to the problems in the general field of Jewish community relations;
  • to promote, develop and defend the United States-Israel relationship;
  • to determine a consensus on the broad range of public policy issues central to Jewish conscience and concern;
  • to disseminate the views of the Jewish community to government leaders and the media;
  • to keep the Jewish community informed of problems and issues of concern and recommend appropriate action;
  • to facilitate interaction with local organizations in promotion of JCRC’s goals and purposes;
  • to foster amicable relations with other ethnic, racial, national and religious groups; 
  • to help prevent discrimination against individuals and groups; 
  • to ensure that issues are addressed in an ethical manner consistent with Jewish teachings; and 
  • to take actions consistent with duties and responsibilities assigned to it by the Tampa Jewish Community Center and Federation.
